Champaign-Urbana’s Pygmalion Music Festival has been growing steadily for eight years, said festival creator Seth Fein.

This year, the festival will take place Sept. 27 through 29 in various venues, both indoor and outdoor, in downtown Champaign, downtown Urbana, and U of I’s Krannert Center.

The festival, while smaller than many other Illinois music festivals, has an impressive alumni list, including Andrew Bird, Maps & Atlases, Janelle Monáe, Cults and Iron & Wine.

“With the kind of headliners we have coming in, it’s one of the highlight festivals that the state of Illinois has, especially downstate,” Fein said.

This year’s headliners include Brooklyn-based Grizzly Bear, whose new album Shields leaked on the Internet a few weeks back; Dinosaur Jr.; Cloud Nothings; Dirty Projectors and Best Coast.

Single show tickets and festival passes are still available for sale atpygmalionmusicfestival.com.

“It’s a really affordable and fun way to spend the weekend and check out the bands and community,” Fein said.
