Secretary of State introduces new database
September 5, 2012
Secretary of State Jesse White has announced the arrival of Archon, a searchable database used to find important historical information, according to a press release.
“With the use of the Internet, individuals can easily search for records held at the Illinois State Archives,” White said in the release. “I am proud to make these important historical documents easily accessible with the use of this advanced technology.”
Archon was developed by archivists at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is used by more than 50 institutions across the county. The database is automatically updated once information is received.
