Illinois State Police review alleged misconduct at NIU

By Northern Star Staff

The Illinois State Police (ISP) is reviewing the case of alleged misconduct by Northern Illinois University employees, said ISP spokesperson Monique Bond.

The ISP has not made a decision as to whether or not they will look into the case of the alleged coffee fund.

Since Aug. 3, the NIU police department has been investigating the case of university employees allegedly selling scrap metal to the DeKalb Iron & Metal Co. and depositing the money into an account known as the coffee fund.

The ISP will evaluate the case and then determine if they will investigate it, Bond said. The ISP could not comment on NIU’s investigation into the coffee fund.
