Discover Sycamore seeks live entertainment for farmers’ market

Looking for a fresh place to perform this summer?

Discover Sycamore is seeking live entertainment for the 2012 Sycamore Farmers’ Market every Sunday June through September. The markets are held in the City Center parking lot at the corner of Somonauk Street and Elm Street in downtown Sycamore. Sets are available in one hour and two hour slots from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and noon to 1 p.m. A tent and electricity for the musical talent is provided.

All types of musicians and groups are welcomed to perform, though family friendliness is insisted. Past Farmers’ Market musicians include country, folk and acoustic soloists and groups. However, performance experience is not required.

“It’s a carefree and low stress environment in which inexperienced musicians can practice in front of a live audience,” said Rose Treml, Executive Director of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce.

Performers at the Sycamore Farmers’ Market are not paid but are encouraged to take advantage of their performances by promoting themselves by bringing business cards and other networking tools.

“This could be a really great way to gain exposure in the community,” Treml said.

The Sycamore Farmers’ Market is a popular attraction for the Sycamore community. With numerous local vendors like Windy Acres Farm Stand and Crump Family Gardens, customers are provided with a variety of products.

The market also boasts different activities including featured guest chefs.

“The Sycamore Farmers’ Market provides the community with the opportunity to buy locally grown fresh ingredients, baked goods and other specialty products in the quaint downtown of Sycamore,” Treml said. “It’s a great way to spend your Sunday afternoons.”

Discover Sycamore is a branch of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce which promotes businesses to the community through events, marketing and tourism.
