By Northern Star Staff

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday

At 4:04 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol passed a vehicle, and the driver was not wearing a seat belt. The officer turned around and initiated a traffic stop in the 700 block of North Annie Glidden Road. When the officer approached the driver, the officer saw the seat belt was on the driver. The driver, Demarkus D. Jackson, 18, of Chicago, denied having the seat belt off and gave the officer a previous speeding ticket and his state ID. The officer found Jackson’s driver’s license was suspended. Jackson was charged with driving with a suspended license, not wearing a seat belt and having no insurance. Jackson was arrested, taken to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.
