The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
Friday
At 8:46 p.m., a DeKalb police officer ran a registration check on a Blue 2006 Volvo and discovered that the registration had expired in March 2011. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of Grove Street and found the driver, Michael J. Toner, 40, of DeKalb had a suspended driver’s license. Toner was charged with driving with a suspended license, expired registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Toner was arrested and later released on bond.
At 9:50 p.m., a DeKalb police officer observed a vehicle in the 100 block of North Annie Glidden Road. The backseat passenger was moving a child seat around and the officer witnessed that the seat was not properly buckled in, and the passenger and driver were not wearing seat belts. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed the driver put on her seat belt. The officer ran identification on the driver and the passenger and discovered the driver, Taneria N. Smith, 23, of Chicago, had a failure to appear warrant. The passenger, Jonathan N. Turner, 20, of Chicago was issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt. Smith was charged with failure to appear, not wearing a seat belt and having a child safety seat violation. Smith was arrested and later released on bond.
Saturday
At 1:26 a.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a vehicle disobey a stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1100 block of South Second Street. The officer smelled a strong odor of alcoholic liquor coming from the driver’s mouth. The driver, Stephanie J. Kyler, 31, of DeKalb, admitted to consuming two alcoholic beverages prior to the traffic stop. Kyler failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device. Kyler was arrested and transported to the DeKalb Police Department to be processed.
At 1:54 a.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a vehicle turn northbound onto North Annie Glidden Road from West Lincoln Highway. The vehicle disobeyed a red light while turning right. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver, Ebony M. Waters, 21, of DeKalb, had a suspended driver’s license. Waters was arrested and later released on bond.
At 2:36 a.m., a DeKalb police officer traveling eastbound in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway stopped at a red light at the Fourth Street intersection. A black 1999 Buick was stopped in front of the officer. The light turned green and the vehicle did not move for about five seconds. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver, Jessica R. Fogelsanger, 21, of Sycamore, was driving under the influence and arrested. Fogelsanger was charged with driving under the influence and over .08, improper parking on the roadway and no insurance.
At 9:47 p.m., DeKalb police conducted an alcohol compliance check at Daisy’s Sports Bar and Grill, 901 Lucinda Ave. Yasha K. Taylor, 21, of DeKalb, was charged with selling alcoholic liquor to a minor.
At 10:07 p.m., DeKalb police conducted an alcohol compliance check at Starbusters Sports Bar and Nightclub, 930 Pappas Dr. Valerie A. Kasper, 21, of Bridgeview, was charged with selling alcoholic liquor to a minor.
At 10:43 p.m., DeKalb police conducted an alcohol compliance check at Lord Stanley’s, 142 East Lincoln Highway. Wesley P. Galvin, 21, of DeKalb, was charged with selling alcoholic liquor to a minor.
Sunday
At 1:09 a.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol noticed a vehicle stop suddenly for a yellow light in the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway. The vehicle was near the train tracks, so the officer turned around to make sure the vehicle made it safely through the intersection. The vehicle passed through the intersection and the officer followed. The vehicle made a quick left turn into McDonald’s parking lot without yielding to another vehicle that was heading westbound. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver, Jennifer L. Theodorou, 37, of Elgin, displayed indicators of impairment. Theodorou was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield and no insurance. Theodorou was arrested and transported to the DeKalb Police Department.
