The DeKalb Fire Department named an interim chief Thursday.

Battalion Chief Eric Hicks has been given the post of interim fire chief.

Hicks will temporarily replace former Fire Chief Bruce Harrison, who will begin his new position as Fire Chief for the University of Notre Dame March 1. Harrison announced his retirement Jan. 18.

Hicks said a date for selecting a permanent chief is to be determined.
