Campus blotter for 2/13/12

TUESDAY
At 11:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to Neptune North to assist the housing staff with an odor of cannabis. Upon arrival, officers detected the odor of cannabis and determined the source. Officers made contact with the individual in the room, which resulted in the discovery of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The individual was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
WEDNESDAY
At 7:47 p.m., a student reported she left her wristlet in Neptune North’s computer lab and, when she returned, it was gone. This case is administratively closed.
At 11:17 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the Holmes Student Center to meet with a complainant for a report of deceptive practices, including two suspected counterfeit $10 bills. This case is pending investigation.
At 2:04 p.m., officers responded to an apartment on Fotis Drive in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant. The wanted individual was not present, but officers discovered drug paraphernalia at the scene. This case is pending investigation.
THURSDAY
At 7:47 a.m., officers were called to Anderson Hall on a report of damaged property. Officers spoke with the complainant. This case is pending investigation.
At 11:27 a.m., officers met with a complainant in regards to a theft from their residence hall room. This case is pending investigation.
At 12:48 p.m., officers were called to Stevenson Towers on a report of domestic dispute. After interviewing the parties involved, officers arrested Allonde J. Epps, 18, of Chicago, for domestic battery. Epps was transported to the DeKalb County jail awaiting bond call.
At 1 p.m., officers were called to the Holmes Student Center in regards to a banned individual being on the premises. After locating the individual and confirming he was banned, officers arrested Terrell L. Jenkins, 35, of DeKalb, for criminal trespass.
At 2:27 p.m., officers met with several complainants in regards to a student’s disruptive behavior in class. After conducting an investigation, officers referred the student to Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for disorderly conduct. This case is pending investigation.
At 10:38 p.m., officers encountered individuals in possession of cannabis in lot P. The individuals were sent through the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis.
FRIDAY
At 9:24 a.m., officers were called to the NIU accounting office and were given what was believed to be counterfeit money. The officers confirmed the money is counterfeit and this case is pending investigation.
At 2:25 p.m., an individual reported her bag was stolen while she was at the Holmes Student Center. This case is pending investigation.
At 4:18 p.m., officers were called to lot S in regards to a complaint that a vehicle had been broken into. Officers made contact with the complainant and showed the officers the damage to his vehicle. This case is pending investigation.
At 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to Grant Towers South based on a tip that a resident was involved in drug use. The resident admitted to occasionally smoking cannabis and agreed to a search of the room, which yielded several pipes used to smoke cannabis. The resident was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 11:27 p.m., officers on patrol in Stevenson Towers south encountered several intoxicated individuals who were under 21. The individuals were sent through the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
SATURDAY
At 3:28 a.m., officers on patrol around the 900 block of N. Annie Glidden Road encountered a vehicle driving erratically. They pulled the vehicle over and made contact with the driver, Jimmy K. Redmond, 19, of Calumet City. Redmond was arrested and charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol, and later released on an I bond.
SUNDAY
At 12:43 a.m., officers on patrol in lot 35 noticed a car parked in the lot. They made contact with the occupants of the car and noticed open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
