Campus blotter for 1/30/12

Tuesday

At 12:30 a.m., an officer conducting a building check of Lincoln Hall detected the possible odor of cannabis coming from a room. The officer made contact with two individuals in the room. It was determined the individuals were under 21 and in possession of alcohol, cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The individuals were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday

At 12:17 p.m., an officer received a report of a theft that occurred in the Psychology Computer Building men’s restroom. This case is administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 8:02 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Emergency Management and Planning lobby to take a report of a possible battery. The officer took a report from witnesses and the victim. Alan Espinoza, 19, of Waukegan, was identified and arrested for battery. Espinoza posted bond and was released.

Thursday

At 3:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Rice hotel, 148 Third Street. They discovered spray paint on the building. This case is administratively closed.

At 1:29 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Holmes Student Center bus turnaround to meet with an individual who reported their backpack was missing. This case is pending investigation.

At 8:41 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the NIU Recreational Center for a report of disorderly contact. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the offender. The offender was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for disorderly conduct.
