DeKalb may see snow Friday
January 18, 2012
The DeKalb area has the potential for significant snowfall Friday, said NIU meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste.
Sebenste said while the forecast is still uncertain, the DeKalb area could get upwards of four inches of snow starting Friday afternoon through the evening.
“It’s going to be very cold as well,” Sebenste said. “We may only see highs in the middle to upper teens, about 17 degrees or so.”
Sebenste said area residents can also expect 10 to 20 mph winds and wind chill in the single digits.
“And with falling snow, it’s not going to be a very fun day,” Sebenste said.
Sebenste advises students to dress for very cold wind chills and to have caution on the roads as the accumulating snow can create hazardous driving conditions.
