City blotter for 12/05/11

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Friday
- At 1:20 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle without its headlights on in the 1200 block of West Lincoln Highway. The officer performed a traffic stop and observed the strong odor of alcohol from inside the vehicle. The driver, Christopher T. Raufeisen, 21, of DeKalb, failed all field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The passenger, Natalie E. Gross, 19, of DeKalb, admitted to drinking alcohol while under the age of 21 and was cited for the consumption of alcohol by a minor.
- At 8:40 p.m., a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle at the intersection of Annie Glidden Road and Hillcrest Drive without a rear registration light. The deputy observed the smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and determined the driver, Jasmine X. Lark, 18, of Chicago, was driving under the influence of drugs. Lark was arrested and taken to DeKalb County Jail.
- At 11:43 p.m., DeKalb Police responded to a residence in the 1100 block of West Hillcrest Drive. Tow truck drivers told police they were attempting to tow a vehicle from the parking lot when some men exited an apartment in the complex and surrounded the vehicle. Two men entered the vehicle being towed and drove it off of the jacks, damaging one of them. The suspects fled the scene while the rest of the men returned to the apartment. An investigation led to the arrest of Jeffrey M. Feaster, 20, of DeKalb, for criminal damage to property.
- At 11:47 p.m., DeKalb Police observed a driver who was not wearing his seat belt in the 1100 block of East Lincoln Highway. The officer performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Jesus Escobar-Morales, 23, of Cortland, did not have a valid driver’s license. Escobar-Morales was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.
Saturday
- At 12:03 a.m., DeKalb County Sheriff’s Police responded to a report of a reckless driver on Derby Line Road. The driver, Eugene Quintell, 50, of Genoa, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and disorderly conduct. Quintell was transported to DeKalb County Jail.
- At 12:24 a.m., DeKalb Police checked the license plates of a vehicle in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Highway. The officer found the registered owner, Andrew B. Beach, 21, of DeKalb had a suspended license. The officer performed a traffic stop and found Beach was driving the vehicle. Beach was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Department. He was later released on bond.
- At 5:46 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a broken-down vehicle in the 1400 block of Twombly Road. The driver, Juan L. Sandoval, 38, of DeKalb, was found to have an active Failure to Appear warrant from Cook County for the sale of marijuana. Sandoval was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Department. He was later transported to DeKalb County Jail.
Sunday
- At 12:15 a.m., DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of West Lincoln Highway for lane and registration violations. The driver, Regis P. Richmond, 24, of DeKalb was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Richmond was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.
- At 3:15 a.m., DeKalb County Sheriff’s Police stopped a vehicle on Glidden Road for improper lane usage. The driver, Taylor Dixon, 20, of Rockford, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Two passengers in the vehicle, Francis A. Souhala, 20, of Rockford, and Eric W. Singer, 20, of Rockford, also admitted to drinking alcohol. Dixon was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful consumption of alcohol. Singer and Souhala were also charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol.
