December 1, 2011
The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Wednesday
- At 2:01 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 700 block of North Annie Glidden Road disobey a stop sign, turn without signalling and make a wide right turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic. The officer performed a traffic stop and noticed the driver, Eric D. Regan, 22, of Mt. Prospect, had glassy eyes. The officer also noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Regan failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
- At 10:40 p.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle with expired registration in the 1100 block of Varsity Boulevard. The officer found the vehicle’s license plates were suspended for mandatory insurance violations. The owner of the vehicle, Henry T. Martin, 22, of DeKalb, was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant for retail theft. The officer performed a traffic stop and found Martin was driving the vehicle. The officer also noticed the smell of burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle. Martin was placed under arrest, and a search of the vehicle yielded the remains of a hollowed-out cigar, but no cannabis. Martin was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
