The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Friday
At 5:30 p.m., a DeKalb Police officer was notified that an individual, Andrea McIntyre, 34, of DeKalb, who had an active failure to appear warrant was walking up John Street. McIntyre was located in the 100 block of John Street and arrested. She was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and was later released on bond.
At 11:02 p.m., DeKalb Police checked the license plate of a vehicle in the 1700 block of North First Street. The registered owner, Laura M. Contreras, 21, of Genoa, was found to have an active warrant. The officer performed a traffic stop and observed a six-pack of beer in the back passenger area. A passenger, Alan J. Wojdyla, 21, of Genoa, showed the officer an open beer can and stated he had been drinking in the vehicle. Contreras was arrested for a failure to appear warrant for driving with a suspended license. She was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond. Wojdyla was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol.
At 11:28 p.m., DeKalb Police checked the registration of a vehicle in traffic in the 500 block of Pine Street. The registered owner was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The officer performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Deon P. Grant, 23, of Chicago, was not the registered owner. Grant was found to have a suspended license. Grant was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Department. He was later released on bond.
Saturday
At 1:45 a.m., DeKalb Police checked the registration of a vehicle in the 1000 block of Ridge Drive. The owner, Marcus C. Marsalis, 20, of DeKalb, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The officer performed a traffic stop and found Marsalis was driving the vehicle. Marsalis was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.
At 2:03 a.m., DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle with suspended license plates in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Highway. The driver, Irvin Moreno, 22, of Maple Park, was found to be intoxicated. Moreno was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.
DeKalb Police received information from a source that Joe Castro, 41, of DeKalb, would be driving a white pickup truck in the 2900 block of Sycamore Road around 6 a.m. At 6:13 a.m., the officer observed Castro drive into the Kish Korner restaurant and park. The license plate of the vehicle indicated Castro had a suspended driver’s license. While speaking with the officer, Castro chastised him for interfering with his business. The officer noted the inside of the vehicle was covered in old vomit and empty beer bottles. Castro was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.
At 11:27 p.m., DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an accident on Shabbona Road at the I-88 overpass. A vehicle driven by Christopher M. Lovell, 23, of Sycamore, went into the west ditch on Shabbona Road, struck a mailbox and a guardrail. The vehicle overturned and struck the opposite guardrail as well. Lovell was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Lovell was also charged with improper lane usage and driving under the influence.
Sunday
At 1:26 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a fight start in the 900 block of Regent Drive. The officer heard a loud crash and saw the passenger side mirror of a vehicle was damaged. Witnesses in the area told police a woman, Monique P. Bond, 21, of DeKalb, had accused them of fighting with her brother and had attempted to kick someone, hitting the mirror instead. Bond was located and placed under arrest. She was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 1:44 a.m., DeKalb Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Regent Drive for a report of fighting in the city. The report stated nine people were fighting in a parking lot and had begun damaging a car. Upon arrival, police observed no one was fighting in the parking lot. Officers spoke with several individuals who all denied striking the vehicle. One individual, Deandera T. Bond, 19, of Chicago, told police he was involved in the fight and had been drinking. Bond was arrested and charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
