Campus blotter for 11/28/11

Monday

At 11:30 a.m., an officer took a theft report. A student said someone stole his bicycle. This case is pending investigation.

At 12:59 p.m., an officer took a theft report. A student said someone stole his book bag Nov. 18. Due to a lack of leads, this case is administratively closed.

Tuesday

At 9:46 a.m., officers took a report of a domestic battery. A woman said her child’s father struck her in her face. This case is pending investigation.

At 12:50 a.m., officers responded to Still Gym for people found on the roof. Upon arrival, they met with four students. All four were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for criminal trespass.

At 11:19 a.m., an officer responded to the lobby of the NIU Police Department to take a report on deceptive practices. Upon arrival, he met with the person, who said someone took money out of her bank account without authorization. This case is pending investigation.

At 4:42 p.m., an officer responded to Douglas Hall regarding a burglary to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, she met with a person who said someone stole her radar detector from her locked vehicle. This case is pending investigation.

Wednesday

At 1:44 a.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction. The officer contacted the vehicle’s driver which revealed that he had an active warrant for failure to appear for a traffic-related offense. Joshua F. Lopez, 18, of DeKalb, was arrested for the warrant and also cited for traffic offenses. He was processed at the NIU Police Department and released after posting bond. This case is cleared via adult arrest.

At 9:45 a.m., officers responded to the Monsanto Building in regards to computer tampering. Upon arrival, they met with a person who said someone is using a university computer and false information to request sensitive information such as bank account information from people. This is being investigated by others and just documented for law enforcement purposes. This case is administratively closed.
