DeKalb Police have a suspect in custody in connection with two suspicious incidents that occurred Monday morning, according to a press release.
According to police reports, Jorge Luis Gomez Gonzalez, 37, of DeKalb, has been charged with indecent solicitation of a child and attempted kidnapping.
Both incidents involved two teenage females who reported they were walking on the sidewalk when a man in a vehicle stopped nearby.
During the first incident, the man offered a 16-year-old juvenile money to get into his vehicle in the 800 block of Kimberly Drive. The victim went into a nearby apartment building and called police after the man attempted numerous times to get the juvenile into his vehicle.
The police report states surveillance video on Kimberly Drive allegedly caught Gonzalez’s vehicle during the incident.
The second victim, a 13-year-old juvenile, reported the a man of similar description offered her money for sex in the 1200 block of Blackhawk Road. The victim reported the man offered her $100. The suspect exited his vehicle as the victim walked away. The suspect eventually returned to his vehicle and drove away.
DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said a patrol officer located the vehicle on Edgebrook Drive, and located Gonzalez from the address provided by the license plate of the vehicle.
The police report stated Gonzalez told police he had a lot to drink and could not remember talking to the juvenile on Kimberly Drive, but did admit talking to the 13-year-old victim and offering her money. Both females identified Gonzalez as the suspect from a photo lineup.
DeKalb Police urge parents and children to report any suspicious activity to the police or school personnel.
