City blotter 10/18/11

  • At 11:29 p.m., a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to NIU homecoming detail observed a vehicle on Regent Drive bump into another vehicle while trying to park. The deputy found the driver, Ryan C. Bruce, 23, of Chicago, was driving with a suspended license. Bruce was arrested and later released on bond at the scene.

Sunday

  • At 12:44 a.m., a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to NIU homecoming detail performed a registration check on a vehicle after the driver yelled comments at DeKalb City Police. The deputy found the driver, Tashyana S. Wells, 22, of Chicago, was driving with a suspended license. Wells was arrested and later released on bond.
  • At 9:36 a.m., DeKalb Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Greenbrier Road for a possible domestic situation. A witness told police they were woken up by a female screaming for help. Upon arrival, police located the victim, who said she was choked. The victim’s boyfriend, Brian A. Mulder, 26, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • At 10:29 p.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle drive through a red light in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Highway. The officer performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Joshua Williams, 32, of Yorkville, did not have proof of insurance and was driving with a suspended license. Williams was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.
