October 12
- At 6:00 a.m., an officer took a robbery report. Investigation revealed the man lied about the robbery. Christopher C. Erby, 18, of Chicago was arrested and charged with filing a false police report. This case is closed by arrest.
Monday
- At 12:40 a.m., officers responded to the lobby of Grant Towers South for a theft report. Upon arrival, they met with a student who said someone stole her bicycle from the bike rack outside Grant Towers South between Oct. 21 and Oct. 24. Due to no leads, this case is administratively closed.
Tuesday
- At 3:12 a.m. an officer in the lobby of Stevenson Towers North took a theft report. The man said between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m. Oct. 21, someone stole his backpack while he slept in Neptune Central. On Thursday, this case was administratively closed due to no leads.
Wednesday
- At 3:27 p.m., an officer responded to the Emergency Management and Planning lobby of the NIU Police Department for a complaint of harassment by electronic means. Upon arrival, she met the woman, who said her sister harassed her through a conversation over the telephone. This case is pending investigation.
- At 11:17 p.m., officers observed four students sitting in a vehicle in NIU Parking Lot W. As the officers approached the vehicle, they smelled burned cannabis. They contacted the students, which resulted in one being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug paraphernalia. Two were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for smoking cannabis.
Thursday
- At 5:47 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Douglas Hall lobby for a theft report. The victim reported a bike missing from the bike rack on the east side of Douglas Hall. The case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.
- At 9:23 p.m. NIU Police responded to 360 Wirtz Drive construction site located between McMurray and Altgeld Hall. Upon arriving, they observed Heating Plant personnel standing with four unknown people next to a silver pick-up truck. Heating Plant personnel said they observed a group of six people going through the dumpsters within the construction site. Two people fled. The remaining four students were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for criminal trespass to property.
Friday
- At 2:20 a.m., an officer on patrol of the Neptune East lobby observed a person staggering who appeared to be intoxicated. The officer made contact with the student who was determined to be a minor. The student was referred to the Office of Community Standard and Student Conduct.
- At 6: 37 a.m., an officer responded to the Chick Evans Field House to take a burglary report. This case is pending investigation.
- At 11:06 a.m., an officer responded to the lobby of the NIU Police Department to take a theft report. The woman said someone stole her belongings from the third floor computer lab in Wirtz Hall. This case is pending investigation.
- At 1:41 p.m., NIU Police arrested Aliece S. Walker, 22, of Chicago for an outstanding warrant for larceny. Walker was transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
- At 3:22 p.m., an officer responded to Stevenson Towers North for a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The student said items were removed from their vehicle while it was parked in Lot P. This case is administratively closed due to a lack of evidence and leads.
