City blotter for 11/01/11

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Saturday

  • At 2:18 a.m., a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle for improper lane usage on Glidden Road. The driver, Miguel Villagomez, 18, of Genoa, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Villagomez and two passengers in the vehicle, Austion Bankson, 18, of Genoa, and Fernando Mendoza, 18, of Genoa, were arrested for unlawful consumption of alcohol.
  • At 4:37 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a speeding vehicle weaving over both sets of lane markers in the 300 block of North First Street. The officer performed a traffic stop after the vehicle made an improper turn. The driver, Donta L. Murphy, 21, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a valid driver’s license.
  • At 10:57 p.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle travel through an intersection in the 100 block of North Annie Glidden Road without its headlights on. The officer performed a traffic stop and observed an unsecured sleeping child in the back seat. The officer learned the child belonged to the front seat passenger, Chevette Wilson, 43, of Chicago. The officer found Wilson and the driver, Addison T. Hunter, 39, of Chicago, both had suspended driver’s licenses. Hunter was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. Wilson and the child were taken to the police station as well. Wilson was issued a citation for failing to secure her child. Hunter was later released on bond.

Sunday

  • At 3:09 a.m., DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle after it was observed crossing the center line on Bethany Road. The driver, Christopher J. Ruiz, 19, of Westchester, was arrested for the unlawful possession of a fraudulent identification card. Ruiz was transported to DeKalb County jail and later released on bond.
  • At 8:40 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 110 block of East Lincoln Highway. The officer performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Harold W. Cherry, 29, of Steger, was driving with a suspended license. Steger was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.

Monday

  • At 1:18 a.m., DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for help on Glidden Road, north of Bethany Road. Upon investigation, Frank D. Bailey, 20, of Rockford, and Vaniesha D. Richardson, 23, of Rockford, were arrested and charged with battery. They were transported to DeKalb County Jail pending bond.
