Imagine experiencing over 20 different musicians perform live, an art show, a play and a fashion show — all in one night. Oh, and it only costs $5.

Tonight at 6 p.m., live theater group Wooden Box Theater will present Pink Floyd – The Wall at the House Cafe, 263 E. Lincoln Highway.

The event is a tribute to Pink Floyd and will feature the music of Pink Floyd’s 1979 album, The Wall, performed by numerous local musicians.

The artists will be able to put their own spin on the Floyd songs they showcase, as well as perform their own original songs. The songs will be tied together throughout the night, as Wooden Box Theater members perform a script related to the album. The idea behind the performance is to introduce new talent in the DeKalb area through familiar, classic songs, while using a recurring theme to tie the whole night together.

Daniel Sherrill, writer, director and talent recruiter for Wooden Box Theater, said he finds a lot of his performers through the House Cafe’s open mic nights and offers them their first paying show. Tonight’s show will be true to the Wooden Box Theater style in that it will offer more than 20 different up-and-coming local musical performers all in one night.

“Luckily, we live in a city with a tremendous pool of musicians,” Sherrill said.

Pink Floyd Night will be hosted by Vanessa Chavez, who will be assisted by Brianna Varacalli and Heidi Hartwig.

There will also be two art shows on display throughout the night, by Anton Zanker and Danny Powell, and a fall fashion show.

The Wooden Box Theater has been performing in the DeKalb area for 16 years, three of which have been at the House Cafe. The theater group will dedicate this performance to Debi Judkins, who was originally scheduled to host the show but will not be appearing due to health complications.

“Pink Floyd – The Wall” is $5 at the door and has a semi-formal dress code.

“The show will be unpredictable [and] extremely rewarding for everyone involved,” Sherrill said. “I think the crowd will see a lot of break-out stars.
