City crime blotter 9/26/2011

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

Thursday

  • At 7:50 p.m., DeKalb Police responded to the 900 block of Edgebrook Drive for a report of a car of people believed to be smoking cannabis. The officer spoke with the driver, Bryan J. Norwood, 22, of Chicago, and two passengers. The officer noticed a strong smell of burnt cannabis inside the vehicle, but a search provided no cannabis. The officer found Norwood was driving with a suspended driver’s license. Norwood was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.

Friday

  • At 2:41 a.m., DeKalb Police checked the license plate of a vehicle in the 300 block of Normal Road and found it to be suspended. The driver, Carl B. Smith, 24, of Chicago, was unable to provide the officer with his driver’s license or proof of insurance. Smith was found to have a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.

Saturday

  • At 12:05 a.m., DeKalb Police responded to the 200 block of East Deerpath Lane for a relocation complaint. Upon arrival, the officer learned that the driver, Mark K. Woodbury, 20, of Oswego, had tried to drive his vehicle off of a tow truck. Woodbury was arrested and charged with reckless driving. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
