The Great Influence Machine’s grace under pressure

By Jerene-Elise Nall

An electronic

failure caused a half-hour delay in The Great Influence Machine’s

set, but the group’s wind, brass, and percussion sections were able

to improvise for quite some time without power while the problem

was solved. This group, which includes Stompkee co-founder Jacob

Miguel, certainly lives up to its name– the grace and precision

with which the band’s many parts function is like watching the

inner workings of a well-constructed timepiece.
