Same-sex couples can live together on campus
August 30, 2011
Because residence hall rooms are gender-specific and because students can choose their own rooms, it is possible for a same-sex couple to live together in the residence halls.
“We allow any two students of the same gender to live together,” said Michael Stang, director of Housing & Dining. Because there is no co-ed housing on campus, this is in contrast to the way a heterosexual couple would. Generally, heterosexual married couples or couples in long-term relationships are referred to Northern View. However, Stang said that this is not generally an issue.
“The vast majority of students who live on campus are not in permanent relationships,” Stang said.
