DeKalb crime blotter for May 3

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

  • At 1:13 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police in the 900 block of West Lincoln Highway observed a vehicle with expired registration. Police performed a traffic stop and learned the driver, James H. Drysdale, 20, of Justice, had a suspended license. Drysdale was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station, and was later released on bond.

 

  • At 2:40 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police in the 1100 block of Varsity Boulevard observed a vehicle whose owner had a suspended driver’s license. Police performed a traffic stop and found the owner, Kevin D. Chambliss, 30, of DeKalb, driving the vehicle. Chambliss was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and was later released on bond.

 

  • At 2:41 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police in the 1100 block of Varsity Boulevard observed a vehicle whose owner had a suspended driver’s license. Police performed a traffic stop and confirmed the driver, Aisha Sierra Jones, 25, of DeKalb, had a suspended license. Jones was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. She was later transported to DeKalb County Jail.

 

  • At 3:23 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police responded to an apartment in the 600 block of North Annie Glidden Road for a report that an individual wanted on a warrant and an individual who was banned from the property were at the residence. Police located the subject who was banned from the property. Durrell A. Gist, 30, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later transported to DeKalb County Jail. Police could not locate the individual wanted on a warrant.

 

  • At 4:33 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police responded to the 200 block of West Hillcrest Drive for a report of a person crawling through the window of an apartment. Police learned the resident, Roy C. Thompson, 23, of DeKalb, had crawled through the window of his apartment in order to get inside. Police also learned Thompson was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant for a disorderly house. Thompson was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later released on bond.

 

  • At 11:31 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police in the 1000 block of North Annie Glidden Road observed a vehicle with expired registration. Police performed a traffic stop and learned the driver, Clifford P. Brooks, 23, of Sycamore, did not have a valid driver’s license. Brooks was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and was later released on bond.
