Sophomore goal-keeper Jordan Godsey had a great year for the men’s soccer team, which is why he was named the Northern Star’s No. 6 athlete of the year.

Godsey started and played in 15 games this year for the Huskies and posted a 7-3-2 record.

“To be the No. 6 huskie is a great honor,” Godsey said. “I worked hard this season and it feels great to be recognized.”

He made 50 saves while surrendering 11 goals on the year which gave him a .71 goals against average and had a .820 save percentage.

Godsey’s season high in saves came against Milwaukee on November 4, when he recorded seven saves.

Godsey recorded seven shutouts on the year. They came against Portland, Gonzaga, Bradley, DePaul, Northwestern, Western Michigan and Bowling Green.

During one stretch of the year, Godsey went 411 minutes without allowing a single goal, which is a span of five games.

Godsey did a great job of keeping NIU in every game and was very important to the Huskies this year.
