Peace out, homey: DeKalb Scene says goodbye to long time writer

By DeKalb Scene Staff

As the semester ends, DeKalb Scene bids adieu to Chris Krapek. Chris has worked for DeKalb Scene for four years. With a special brand of entertainment writing, Chris brought energy and dedication to the staff. His work here will be truly missed.

The things I liked most about Chris were his initiative and his sense of humor. Not only was he always ready to shoulder a load of stories, he was always able to put a spin on them that consistently managed to make me smile. I always looked forward to reading his articles, and I know that even if I didn’t write with him for the section, I’d feel that way. He is a truly talented writer. -Jerene-Elise Nall

I met Chris a few semesters ago as a fellow writer. He always impressed me with his seemingly-tireless work ethic. When I became the editor, I was thrilled that he would be returning and was fortunate enough to have him stick around for the duration. He’s not only been a valuable asset to this paper and to the artists and entertainers of DeKalb, but he’s also been a good friend, at that. -Connor Rice

I started working with Chris Krapek in the summer of 2007. Since then, he has evolved into the best writer this section has ever seen. He has carried it to prominence as a workhorse writer who always seems to have the drive to make the section amazing. I’m proud to have called Chris Krapek a co-worker and boss, but even more as a friend. -Tony Martin

You know when you’re reading Krapek. Even in the blandest news, Chris shook you awake with a tone that was both relaxed and focused. He wrote like the news was a free-style, nonchalantly dropping sentences that would make you laugh into the fold of your paper. I’ll miss Krapek’s confident personality, but more importantly, his pseudo-gangster weekend lists. -Troy Doetc
