Film rolls this week at NIU

DeKALB | NIU will play host to several film-related events this week.

Starting tonight, the Department of Communication will host the annual Reality Bytes film festival in Jack Arends Auditorium. Student submissions from as far away as South Korea and Australia will be shown at 9 p.m. tonight and tomorrow. Thursday night’s event will feature a showing of the film The Anatomy of Hate: A Dialogue for Hope at 7 p.m. in Jack Arends. This presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with Anatomy filmmaker Mike Ramsdell.

Preceeding the showing, the School of Art will be sponsoring a talk from NIU alum Mike Disa at 5 p.m. in Jack Arends. Disa, who graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s of fine arts in art and computer programming, will be giving a talk titled From NIU Art Student to Hollywood Director: How To Do It. Disa has worked on many animated features, namely for Disney. His credits as an animator include Mulan, Pocahontas, and Tarzan. His most recent project was as the co-writer and director of the animated feature film Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil.
