March 31
At 4:17 p.m., a person deposited personal belongings in a locker while using the Campus Recreation Center. When the person returned to retrieve them, all of the belongings were gone. The complainant called the NIU Police on Friday to say that his belongings were found in another locker. This case will be closed as unfounded.
Wednesday
At 10:11 p.m., a theft was reported at Lincoln Hall. This case is pending investigation.
Thursday
At 12:12 a.m., an officer on a building check of Grant Towers North detected the odor of cannabis from a particular room. After a consent search of the room yielded several small bags of suspect cannabis, Dangelo Gardner, 19, of Chicago, claimed ownership and was arrested. Gardner was charged with possession of cannabis 30 grams and under and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
At 7:25 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Founders Memorial Library on a call of criminal defacement. Graffiti was observed and documented in the men’s restroom. Pending any leads or further information, this case is administratively closed.
At 8:19 p.m., a battery was reported that occurred at Northern View Apartments. Two males got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Both exhibited minor injuries and refused treatment. No complaint was filed and since they were mutual combatants, this case is cleared for refusal to cooperate.
Friday
At 12:28 a.m., a student was found to have unlawfully consumed alcohol at Grant North. The student was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
At 12:54 a.m., a student was found to unlawfully be in possession of alcohol at Grant South. The student was given a verbal warning.
Saturday
At 3:04 a.m., a student was found to have unlawfully consumed alcohol at Grant South. The student was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
