DeKALB | The scene of the April 5 shooting on Aspen Court was found burglarized Tuesday morning.

DeKalb Police Chief Bill Feithen said the tenant of the apartment where Devon Butler had been shot called the DeKalb Police Department at 9:02 a.m. Tuesday to report that his apartment key was not working. DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said the tenant thought the landlord had changed the lock on the apartment door.

“We found a key broken in the tenant’s doorknob,” Spangler said.

Feithen said upon entry, apartment No. 3 at 1009 Aspen Court was found to have been ransacked. Several items were reported missing.

“A TV, camera, iPod and laptop were missing,” Feithen said.

Feithen said the investigation is ongoing. He would not comment on any connection to the shooting.
