Local retailers spring into season

DeKALB | Spring is in the air and stores all around DeKalb are having sales.

“I definitely love spring sales,” said DeKalb resident John Pricent. “It’s the best shopping of the whole year, next to Christmas time.”

Spring sales have been around throughout the town since spring officially began on March 20. The predominant reason for spring sales in retail stores is the Easter holiday.

“One of the big sellers for Easter is toys,” said Chris Weeks, floor manager at Target, 2555 Sycamore Road. “Every retailer wants to take advantage of those sales.”

Other big sellers for spring include clothes and shoes.

“A lot of times people come in for some specific style,” said Tori Taylor, associate manager at Famous Footwear. “They then take advantage of the current sale, particularly the buy one, get one half off sale.”

Sales generally are dictated by the corporate headquarters and not by individual stores.

We don’t have anything to do with it,” Taylor said. “It is all corporate.”

Denny Gorsuch, assistant manager at the Best Buy, 2074 Sycamore Road, said there are three ways in which people look for sales.

“People will come into the stores and evaluate our prices,” Gorsuch said. “Or about seventy percent of our customers will come in have already done some research online. The last way is they will buy from our site.”
