DeKALB | Kristen Lash was elected 3rd Ward alderman Tuesday.

Lash received 266 votes, 55 percent of the total vote. Paulette Sherman received 218 votes, 45 percent of the vote.

Lash said she wanted to bring ‘transparency’ to the job, meaning 3rd ward residents would be able to directly interact and communicate with her regularly on issues.

“I feel pretty good about it,” Lash said. “I’ve been knocking on doors since January and feel pretty good about them coming out to support me.”

Lash said she looks forward to working with the council on issues currently facing the city, such as staffing the legal department and working on the new budget.

“I just want to congratulate Paulette on a race well run,” Lash said. “I also want the voters to know I will keep my promises.”

Paulette Sherman could not be reached for comment by press time.
