DeKALB | Father John Corapi’s Sunday appearance at the Convocation Center has been cancelled.

According to a press release, Corapi, who was scheduled to speak for a fundraiser through Catholic Charities, has been placed on administrative leave from the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity following accusations of drug abuse and sexual misconduct.

“A lot of time and effort has gone into preparing for the event and of course we are disappointed,” said Heather Priest, marketing manager for the Convo. “We hate to lose any event. However, given the circumstances and the decision based on Father Corapi’s superiors, the Catholic Charities had to cancel the show.”

The Convocation Center will be issuing refunds for those who have purchased tickets starting Monday. Tickets purchased from an outlet or the Convo must be returned to that location by June 3. Tickets purchased at or from the Diocese of Rockford – Catholic Charities must be returned to their McHenry office, 5141 W. Bull Valley Road in McHenry, by April 30 to receive a refund.

All ticketholders wishing for a refund after that date can return their tickets to the Convo.
