The Rant: It’s so duh-mb

The NFL resumed discussions for a new collective bargaining agreement on Monday afternoon after taking Saturday and Sunday off. The owners and players agreed Friday to a week-long extension on the current CBA. Apparently the two sides were so happy with the progress made up to that point that they decided to take the weekend off.

You know you are dealing with a union when they are thinking about days off when its very livelihood is on the line. The move to take the weekend off represents the state of American work ethic.

Owners and players should be working around the clock for a new deal. This isn’t coming from a fan, either. I hope the NFL locks out. With so many people’s careers depending on a pending deal, though, both sides should be thinking about nothing else but work at this time.
