City crime blotter for Feb. 21

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
- At 10:58 p.m. Saturday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle with no registration light in the 900 block of Second Street. Police performed a traffic stop and learned the driver, Jonathan D. Tyler, 26, of DeKalb, was driving with a suspended license. Tyler was arrested and taken to the police station. He was later released on bond.
- At 1:23 a.m. Saturday, DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle for a violation in the 300 block of East Taylor Street. Police learned the driver, Michael B. Gutierrez, 19, of Waterman, had no insurance and was driving with a suspended license. Gutierrez was arrested and taken to the police station. He was later released on bond.
- At 2 a.m. Saturday, DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle with no headlights on and whose driver was not wearing a seat belt in the 1000 block of West Hillcrest Drive. Police learned the driver, Alexander V. Crites, 20, of Rockford, was driving with a suspended license. Crites was arrested and taken to the police station. He was later released on bond.
- At 7:04 p.m. Friday, DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle for disobeying a stop sign in the 1000 block of Pleasant Street. Police learned the driver, Kristi L. Barnett, 40, of DeKalb, was driving with a suspended license. Barnett was arrested and taken to the police station. She was later released on bond.
