DeKALB | People will have the opportunity to support their local farmers and artisans at a Winter Farmers Market hosted by The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb.

The market and craft fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the UUFD, 158 N. Fourth St.

“The market will have healthy food options including grass fed beef and free range chickens and eggs,” said church secretary Bonnie Freeman.

The beef, chickens and eggs are from the Hasselmann Family Farm, 23706 Harmony Road in Marengo. The Erehwon Farm, 39W962 Route 38 in Elburn, will offer fresh herbs and vegetables. Freeman said homemade pasta sauce, freshly baked pastries and other crafts will also be available.

“There will be over 20 local vendors offering numerous arts and crafts like bird houses, suncatchers and handmade jewelry,” said Dan Kenney, one of the market’s organizers.

Attendees can also purchase all natural healthy pet treats from Ledfoots Pet Bakery in Genoa.

“This is an event for the community to enjoy and to come out and support our local farmers and artists,” Kenney said. “Hot food provided by Duck Soup Coop, live music all day will make for a great event, and we look forward to a large turnout.”
