3 arrested in DeKalb drug bust

Three individuals were arrested as part of a DeKalb Police investigation into the sale of heroin. Agents purchased heroin at a hotel in the 1100 block of W. Lincoln Highway, according to a DeKalb Police press release.

The release stated Craig L. Brock, 23, of Round Lake was arrested by police after he entered a room at the hotel. Police found three guns, heroin and cocaine in the room, according to the release.

One of the guns found in the room was reported stolen from Chicago, the release stated.

Two other suspects were arrested after the investigation led police to a residence at 116 N. Eighth St. Both suspects were from the residence, according to the release. Deonte L. Johnson, 23 and Zara K. West were arrested as they attempted to leave the residence, according to the release. Police found several stolen items at the residence that are believed to be from local burglaries, according to the release. The release stated police found evidence connecting Johnson to the heroin and items found in the hotel room.

Brock has been charged with one count of unlawful criminal drug conspiracy, a Class X felony, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, Class 1 felonies and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Class X felonies, according to the release.

Johnson and West have each been charged with two counts of armed violence, Class X felonies, unlawful criminal drug conspiracy, a Class X felony, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Class X felonies, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, Class 1 felonies, unlawful possession of a stolen firearm, a Class 2 felony and unlawful possession of a stolen firearm, a Class 2 felony, according to the release

Additionally, Johnson has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm as a felon, Class 3 felonies and West is also charged with three Class A misdemeanor counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, the release stated.
