Alternative options for a date with a ‘case of the Mondays’
February 8, 2011
DeKalb | With Valentine’s Day falling on a Monday, some may find trouble planning something special because of school or work. For those not wanting a traditional Valentine’s Day date, there are other options.
This year, from 5 to 8 p.m., White Castle, 1602 Sycamore Road, is changing it up for all the lovers. They are changing the scenery and decorating the place that sets the mood for chocolate kisses. Every year White Castle will make their store special for Valentine’s Day. “We treat our guest as if they are at a five star restaurant,” said manager Kyle Kinninger.
Kinninger said they have seen a large turnout in past years.
White Castle employees get a break from wearing the normal uniform and are able to dress for the occasion, Kinninger said. They will greet their guests at the door, take pictures of the lovely couple and serve their guest whatever they crave. They are accepting reservations until 7:15 p.m. and walk-ins. To reserve your table go to.
For those who are looking to give gifts other than chocolates, jewelry or flowers, there are other options.

Some students have already made plans.
“I got a text that read make some time for me on Valentine’s Day at 2 p.m,” said India Brown an NIU alumnae.
Brown has been in a relationship with her boyfriend for seven years and the thought of a surprise always excites her. Valentine’s Day is always great, but she said every day he treats her like it’s Valentine’s Day.
“I’m taking a day off from school,” said Webster Kpor, sophomore electronic engineering major. He is in a long-distance relationship and wants to spend time with his girlfriend since he does not see her often.
He said they have been together for eight months and he plans to take her out to dinner, go bowling and go home to Loves Park and spend time with his family.
