The Rant: There goes Pronger

By Andrew Singer

Philadelphia Flyer Chris Pronger is reportedly going to sell the puck he stole after game two of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks. Pronger stated he will sell the puck on eBay and will donate all proceeds to a charity of the buyer’s choice.

More than seven months after the game-two incident, the Blackhawks have all but vanished from the social consciousness of Chicago. Sure, had this been announced a little closer to playoff time, maybe it would have gotten a bit of a rise out of Chicago fans. Not now though.

Harry Carey’s restaurant reportedly offered $50,000 for the puck, but it only made the offer because it thought it was the puck from the series-clinching sixth game. Anyone paying attention at the time of the sixth game knows Pronger did not steal the puck from Patrick Kane’s cup-clinching goal. The man wasn’t even on the ice at the time.

So, who’s going to buy the GAME-TWO puck?

Who cares? Surely not any “die hard” Blackhawks fans.
