The Rant: No “pro”-tential here

By Jimmy Johnson

It’s such a shame we will likely never get to see the full potential of the Portland Trail Blazers.

After cleaning house from the infamous bong-hitting cast of Rasheed Wallace and Zach Randolph, the Trail Blazers appeared on course to becoming a long-standing contender in the Western Conference.

With a plethora of young talent including Brandon Roy, Greg Oden and others, they had everyone glowing with optimism.

Except these aren’t “high times” in Portland.

Roy, a three-time NBA All-Star, will be out indefinitely after having arthroscopic surgery on both of his knees.

This is just the latest chapter in his personal memoir of “struggling to stay on the court” after having reoccurring knee problems the past two seasons.

All the while Oden is in the same boat of being unhealthy and has fallen off the face of the Earth.

Maybe Roy and Oden should dial-up Wallace to light things up a bit.
