Sycamore reminds residents of winter parking ordinance
December 1, 2010
A Sycamore press release is asking citizens for cooperation in removing their vehicles from the road during a snowfall.
According to the press release, the Sycamore snow ordinance states “It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on any public street or in any city parking lot after a snowfall of two inches or more unless the snow has been plowed off or otherwise removed from the pavement.”
After two inches of snowfall the police department is authorized to ticket, remove and or tow away any vehicle or other obstruction at the owner’s expense, the release stated.
In the case of overnight snowfall there will be no enforcement until 7 a.m., according to the release.
According to the release, the ordinance also states snow cannot be piled in the streets. Also, the release requests that citizens place garbage in approves receptacles next to the curb or in an alleyway of the owner’s private property.
