The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innoncent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Tuesday
- At 6:34 p.m., DeKalb Police stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Normal Road who disobeyed a stop sign. Police learned the driver’s license was suspended. Shehzad A. Merchant, 30, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and disobeying a stop sign. Merchant was transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.
- At 10:35 p.m., DeKalb Police ran a check on a vehicle in the 100 block of North First Street and found the driver had no valid license. A traffic stop was made and police arrested Rafael Mejia, 44, of DeKalb, charged him with having no valid driver’s license and no insurance. Mejia was transported to the DeKalb Police Department, issued citations and released on an I-bond.
