Distractions page is too important to be overlooked

By Letter Writer

As the semester comes to a close and I, admittedly, begin to mentally check out from my lower division lectures, the only solace for my physical presence in the dreary monotony of Geography 101 lies in the “Distractions” section of our student newspaper.

Now, this is anything but a negative reflection on the remainder of the Northern Star. In fact, the editorials, sports columns and other pieces provide edifying insight into the thoughts, concerns and goings-on of the student body. However, the Sudoku offers a sense of fulfilling self-accomplishment so rare for me at this point in my academic career.

You can imagine my distress, then, upon the discovery that, in the final days of the semester, the Sudoku for Friday was an exact replica of Thursday’s number game!

I understand, of course, that the Northern Star employs mainly students; students who, like me, can practically taste the tangible freedom of Winter Break.

Keeping this in mind, the newspaper staff should consider this a helpful suggestion for subsequent semesters that even a menial Level One would suffice as an adequate distraction when the much anticipated end of the semester lies within grasp.

Thank you, Northern Star for your otherwise laudable material.

Sincerely,

Erin Keough
