The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innoncent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sunday

  • At 12:37 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 1200 block of West. Lincoln Highway traveling at a high rate of speed. After a traffic stop was conducted, police arrested Octavio Hernandez-Mora, 23, of DeKalb, who was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), DUI over .08, no insurance and no valid driver’s license. He was transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later released after posting bond.
  • At 1:52 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle not stop at a stop sign in the 800 block of South First Street. After police pulled the driver over, a field sobriety test was conducted with the driver failing it. Julie Schweitzer, 36, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, disobeying a traffic control and driving too fast for conditions. Schweitzer was transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later released after posting bond.
