Three DeKalb businesses fail Tobacco Compliance Check

Three businesses failed a Tobacco Compliance Check conducted on Nov. 11.

According to a DeKalb Police news release, Walgreens, 100 W. Lincoln Highway, 7-Eleven, 802 S. Fourth Street, and La Salsa Supermarket, 1011 W. Hillcrest Drive, all sold tobacco to minors in a check administered by the DeKalb Police Department.

Twenty-seven business in total were inspected.

The checks are used to find if local tobacco retailers are complying with the local minimum age tobacco laws that prohibit the sale to minors, the release stated.

Tobacco retailers were given an information kit and talked with a police department employee, according to the release.

According to the release, the checks were part of the first of three rounds of checks.
