The Lincoln game room officially opened with a commencement event Thursday night.

The newly renovated room features a pool table, foosball table, a large TV and some couches, all of which are available for use by any student living in the residence halls.

The event was attended by many present and past Residence Hall Association (RHA) and Lincoln Hall Council members that worked on the renovation project.

David McCown, the RHA vice president of administration, said they are all happy with how the room has turned out.

“It is so much better than it used to be,” McCown said. “The whole room is just a huge transformation.”

Elina Savoie, RHA executive board member, previously served on the Lincoln Hall Council executive board and helped work on the project.

Savoie said students are already excited to use the room.

“It is very conducive to college students’ lounging needs,” Savoie said. “In my involvement, there have been countless students asking me when we’d be able to open it.”

Now that the room is available, any student that wants to use the room should go to the front desk in Lincoln and the hall director will be able to open it for them, McCown said.

“It’s open to anyone in the halls,” said Kristin Thompson, former vice president of administration for Lincoln Hall Council. “If they want to rent it out and hang out with their friends, that’s what it’s there for.”

Thompson also worked on the project.

McCown said the RHA does projects like this just for the benefit of students.

“It’s for them,” McCown said. “It’s why we do our renovations, to make their lives in the halls better.”
