Editorial board should take its own advice

By Letter Writer

The editorial board of the Northern Star Wednesday looked into the fact that recruitment needs emphasis. I completely agree, but I think we need to look closely at how this process works.

Yes, the university does get some bad press, but one of our best recruitment tools is our current student body. If students who are currently enrolled at this university had a more positive outlook then it could help recruitment.

Being that the Northern Star is the major source of news for most students at this university, I suggest that they take their own editorial board’s advice.

The editorial board stated Wednesday “To begin with, all of NIU’s good qualities and successful programs are buried behind negative press. This school has plenty to be proud of…they could also spend time shining some light on the positives.”

Aside from this one editorial, nothing but the sports page had a single positive story about the university. Come on writers, can’t you find a way to drop the petty stories and find a way to enhance the university you pay to come to, and make a positive impact instead of constantly writing negative reports that only hurt our university.

Take your own advice, promote this university and stop the BS.
