DeKalb County needs Acardo’s spirit
October 26, 2010
The Northern Star Editorial Board endorses John Acardo for the position of DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder.
When it comes to electoral races, the position of county clerk is one of the most overlooked, but it’s one of the most important. The county clerk is responsible for the public’s access to numerous documents, including ones that matter in the election process.
And with the mass proliferation of the Internet, it is important that the county clerk utilizes the Internet in every way possible.
It’s comforting to hear that the candidates for this election, Acardo and Jim Luebke, agree on this particular position.
But we think Acardo distinguishes himself through his time working in various political offices, managing both money and people.
He knows how vital it is to maintain fiscal solvency in a time of economic uncertainty and when greater attention is being paid to government spending.
He likes to describe himself as being on the front lines of public service delivery, and we believe it is that kind of spirit that will make successful as the DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder. We endorse him fully.
