Vote for Bob Brown; he opposes the expansion of the county landfill
October 13, 2010
I am a resident of DeKalb County Board
District 6. One of the most important local issues in the upcoming
election is the planned expansion of the county landfill.
The current County Board District 6
member, Steve Walt, voted yes to create the 17-county dump that is
going into Cortland at the county landfill.
His opponent, Bob Brown, strongly
opposes the expansion of the landfill.
Such an expansion would increase the
risk of air pollution with harmful gases and odors such as hydrogen
sulfide, increase the risk of hazardous chemical entering our
ground water, lower property values in the surrounding
neighborhoods, not to mention damage our county’s public image, and
ultimately, the overall attractiveness to attract potential new
businesses, residents, and NIU students and visitors.
I will be voting for Bob Brown on Nov.
2 and would strongly encourage my neighbors in district to help
save our high quality of life in DeKalb County and vote for Bob
Brown on Nov. 2.
