WOMEN’S RUGBY

The NIU women’s rugby team improved to 4-2 in the fall season by defeating DePaul University 40-0. The team has won three straight matches, and has only given up three points total in those contests. The Huskies will be at home for their fall season finale against the University of Illinois at Chicago this Saturday.

MEN’S RUGBY

The NIU men’s rugby team has gone undefeated so far in its fall season. The team is now 5-0 after dominating the University of Illinois at Chicago this past weekend, 64-0. NIU has outscored opponents 290-28. The men will also have their fall season finale this weekend at Northwestern University, whom they defeated earlier this year at home. The Huskies have already secured a spot in the conference playoffs this spring.

PAINTBALL

The NIU paintball team’s first National Collegiate Paintball Association tournament was this past weekend, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. NIU sent three lines of teams to the tournament, but would have problems with their guns functioning properly and settled for 14th, 16th and 17th places. In other team news, Planet Eclipse, a manufacturer of paintball guns and other gear, signed the NIU team to a sponsorship deal that will provide the team with state of the art equipment for the 2010-2011 season.
