A student suffered superficial injuries during a battery Wednesday night on Ridge Drive, according to NIU Sgt. Alan Smith.

The alleged offender is in custody after she was found trying to get into one of the residence halls.

Smith said that the suspect is a “female non-student” and that she was picked up off-campus.. According to Smith, the suspect went to Lincoln Residence Hall with a steak knife looking for the victim after the altercation on Ridge Drive.

The knife was recovered near Lincoln.

Smith confirmed that the victim is a Lincoln resident. The victim was not hospitalized and suffered a superficial cut.

The DeKalb Police Department is taking over the investigation.
