DeKalb man charged with attempted child abduction

A DeKalb man charged with attempted child abduction is being held on $100,000 bond at the DeKalb County Jail.

Tyler J. Green, 26 of DeKalb, allegedly approached two female juveniles on Sept. 18 according to a DeKalb Police press release. 

DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said while the two girls were on foot in the Target parking lot, 2555 Sycamore Road, Green drove by them and asked if they needed a ride. They declined his offer and were able to get away.

According to the release, on Sept. 27, DeKalb Police located a vehicle in the 1300 block of East Lincoln Highway matching the description given by the two girls. Police spoke with the driver who was Green.

Following an investigation, Green was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted child abduction, class 4 felonies.

According to the Illinois Sex Offender Information website, Green is listed as a sexual predator.

He became a registered DeKalb County sex offender from an incident involving a 13-year-old victim when Green was 24.

In the incident, he was charged in DeKalb County with two counts of sexual exploitation/exposed organs and failure to report a change of address/employment.

Green is next due in court Oct. 14.
